Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website.
My name is Kathryn Hampton and I am a practising counsellor and psychotherapist with over 10 years of experience in supporting individual adults and couples. I know that taking the first steps to begin counselling and psychotherapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a safe, warm and relaxed space for us to work together.
Counselling is a very individual process, and everything I do will be centred around you. We will go at your pace so I can make sure that your needs are met, in order to help you to enhance your life and enable you to live it more fully.
Ethics are at the core of my counselling practice and I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I am a fully-insured member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I adhere to their ethical framework.
My practice is in Leatherhead, which is easy to reach from Epsom, Reigate, Redhill and Dorking. If you would like to explore how working with a counsellor and psychotherapist could benefit you, please contact me.
Making the decision to see a counsellor is a big step to take - but it can be a positive one.
Please read on to find out more about how I could help you.
I am offering therapy sessions both in person and via Zoom. I have stringent safety measures in place to ensure your safety, which are updated as necessary and will be sent to you when you book your first appointment.
Please if you would like to see my COVID-19 policy in advance of booking.
I am experienced in helping individuals and couples with my holistic approach to counselling. This means that I approach therapy with no expectations and no set agenda. Instead, as your psychotherapist, I will take your lead and listen to your needs, so that we can work together towards the life that you want to lead.
Couples choose to see a counsellor together for many reasons. It may be that something has happened to trigger the need for support, you may have reached a point of frustration where you are struggling to communicate, or perhaps you need to build up trust within your relationship. I can work with you and your partner to help you to communicate in a more productive way and help you to make the right choices for you in your relationship.
Living with an eating disorder is not a choice, it is an unconscious coping mechanism for dealing with feelings that are too painful or too difficult to handle. I have experience in supporting adults who need help to change their relationship with food. It is my job as a psychotherapist to help you to understand yourself and your unconscious behaviours, enabling you to grow and live a free and fulfilled life.
Talking therapy can work wonders. As a counsellor, I can support you with:
Stress
Anxiety
Trauma
Lack of confidence
Bereavement
Relationship difficulties
Couple counselling
Addiction
Counselling takes place in a safe space, where you can meet with someone who will listen with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. In the therapy space thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.
Trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can move towards managing or resolving them.
Working together I can help you gain greater insight into the difficulties you are facing, help you understand why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, heathier choices moving forward.

It can be scary and confusing making the decision to contact a counsellor or therapist, but in my experience people will struggle with a mental health issue, a personal crisis or problems with a relationship for much longer than is healthy. Sometimes a friend has proved a source of comfort, but this help can only go so far. Realising that resolving a problem requires something more means you have actually already taken the first step towards improving your life.
I take my lead from you and your needs, so the time that we spend together can vary. Generally, counselling will take at least six weeks and we can revisit our progress as we go to see if it would be in your interest to carry on for longer. Couples counselling usually lasts six to nine weeks.
Please see my fees section. Prices are fixed and I do not offer concessions.
Payment is prior to each session by bank transfer, or you can make a card payment each time we meet. Cash and cheques are not accepted.
